Q1 Recap

May 11, 2026 – As time passes, we tend to forget to celebrate our wins. Q1 was exhausting, but I did so many things that deserve recognition. As a freelancer, I am always planning for the next event, constantly creating a never-ending timeline of tasks to check off.

It’s my form of complimenting myself for being SO BUSY and hustling. Checking boxes off = progress. But the true progress comes from my reflection. Taking a step back and acknowledging the challenges that pushed me mentally and emotionally to that next step. This post is for me.

January

I was officially announced as a Sharks ambassador, a new program to help promote hockey in the Bay Area. As a girl who creates sports content, I was over the moon for this partnership. It allowed me to actually learn hockey, meet new people who live around me, and feel a great sense of community. It also helped that the Sharks were winning and 🤏 this close to making it to the playoffs. At my first game, I felt like the game was long, but by the final home game, time flew by as my understanding grew. 100/10 will be going to more games next season. Oh, and the Sharks earned the number two overall pick this year, so I’m also manifesting I can attend and create content surrounding that moment.

February

Super Bowl in the BAY. A lot of coffee was consumed, and a ton of networking.

Man, I was so excited for this week, and I wanted to make the most of every second. I messaged creators beforehand, met other sports girls I have followed, and networked my butt off. I tried my hardest to get into the Super Bowl, but unfortunately, no luck. Honestly, it’s okay. I made my way to the Opening Media Event and was in the room with every sports journalist I had followed growing up.

I do wish I had posted more. Everything I had to do to get into those rooms was essentially built up from months of networking and attending events hosted by the Bay Area Hosting Committee. 70% of making it in any dream job is about putting yourself out there; social media, a blog, selling a product, the list goes on. In sports, it’s really about who knows you and trusts you. (Oh, and remember, not everyone in this industry is a girl’s girl, but we can touch on that later).

It took me a week to recover from all the networking 😂

March

My birthday month! Spent the day at the beach with all my favorite people. And then I decided to kick sh*t into high gear. The WNBA season was about to start, I still hadn’t grown my following on social media, and I was thinking, ” What am I doing? What is the point of all the hustle if I’m not going to post until I basically annoy people?” Birthdays tend to do that to you. They make you feel grateful but also snap you back to the goals you set for yourself and almost push you to that next level.

I’ve struggled a lot trying to stay consistent across all platforms. Instagram is extremely difficult to grow on, and half of my followers are people I’ve met throughout my years of life. TikTok is great. New stranger followers, great engagement, and like I said, the followers are strangers 😆.

Q2 Goals

YouTube is my Q2 goal. I want to post my life on a grander scale, start interviewing people, host conversations with my friends in this space, and share how they continue to overcome imposter syndrome. I named my first podcast episode Certified Yappers. I am still attached to it, but clearly, I am missing the yapping portion!

I’ve gone back and forth as to what I want this career to look like, and honestly, I still don’t know. Growing up, the media was split into three parts: writers, reporters, and TV hosts. Now, anyone can become a combination of the three just by posting their thoughts on social media. It is a LOT of work.

Q2 is all about gratitude, locking in, and giving myself grace. Because when you’re constantly filming in your room, you can become your own worst enemy (also known as imposter syndrome). So my message to everyone: be kind to yourself. Work towards what makes you happy, and take care of your mental health.
