Patriots vs Chiefs

Hands down the top two games of week six were the battle between the Chiefs and Patriots Sunday night and the Monday night game between the Packers and 49ers.

I live in a Raider household, so my dad was rooting against the Chiefs all night. But if you’ve been keeping up with me you should know by now, I’m not a huge Tom Brady fan. Safe to say both QB’s put up a fight, but of course Brady figured out a way to pull through with a win, the score was 43-40.

Patrick Mahomes is a 23 year old second year QB who until Sunday night was 5-0. To date, Mahomes has completed over 1,500 yards and 14 touchdowns. Ballin’.

The first half it was fairly obvious that Mahomes was overhyped – not nervous (via Jenny Vrentas, Sports Illustrated) to be playing the GOAT. He threw multiple incomplete passes that could’ve resulted in touchdowns and barely scored six points before the 2nd quarter. By the half, the score was 24-9 and to make Brady feel even more secure, Mahomes threw a pick in the end zone to wrap the half up.

Personally, I wasn’t too nervous by halftime. Mahomes made a few mistakes: he threw a pick in the 1st quarter which resulted in a TD by Sony Michel, 10-3 score. Ok not too bad, one touchdown Mahomes can do it, instead they hit two more field goals and Brady is racking up the score as he always does. I’m thinking ok, second half Mahomes will highlight his true talents, move out of the pocket when he feels the pressure coming or throw some killer darts down the field to gain yardage.

As expected, Mahomes threw a sweet 67-yard touchdown pass to Kareem Hunt to start the second half, followed by three TD to Tyreek Hill. (Racking up the Fantasy points am I right!!) The score is now 26-27 with New England in the lead.

The fourth quarter begins and I’m literally on the end of my seat. Pats kick a field goal and Tremon Smith returns the punt inside the five yard line. Third and goal Mahomes hits Hill again for a TD, 33-30.

Brady throws two great passes to WR Chris Hogan putting the Pats on the four yard line. Third and goal, no one is open for a pass so what does Brady do? Oh just run it in himself; a flag is thrown for holding against the Chiefs — touchdown Pats.

In the end, the one major error I believe Mahomes made, was leaving Brady with possession & time on the clock.

All football viewers know that the Brady, Brees, Rodgers and Mannings of the world will not lose a game when it was this exciting throughout. Mahomes threw another great TD pass to Hill, with 3:00 left on the clock. You should just KNOW that is ample time for Brady to get down the field & make some plays to assure he goes home with a W.

I can’t wait to see how Mahomes performs as we get closer to playoffs. I’m not saying I’m rooting for the Chiefs or anything don’t trip dad! (Even though the Raiders are terrible..)
