March 15, 2019 — Biased headline coming your way: The Warriors have figured out how to play as a team of All-Starts and it was electric. Warriors faced the Rockets in Houston Wednesday night and finally started the game with a lead, maintained it and won.
Houston Stats:
J. Harden – 29 pts, 10 assists
C. Paul – 24 pts
E. Gordon – 17 pts
C. Capela – 13 pts
Warrior Stats:
D. Cousins – 27 pts, seven assists, eight rebounds
S. Curry – 24 pts
K. Thompson – 30 pts
There have been a lot of hate around Cousins since he’s joined the Warriors: ‘he never takes shots, he causes too much drama in the paint, his attitude just isn’t right with the team.’ Friendly reminder, this is his first season with the Warriors and returning to the court after suffering an achilles injury…the guy is still healing.
I will admit, I was starting to get frustrated with Cousins myself, it felt like the only action he was getting was foul calls. But I started to notice the refs definitely pick on him; he gets fouls called on him but never gets foul calls. I mean the guy is on the floor a good number of times each game, and he never gets a call in his favor. Aside from the biased referring, Cousins looked like he was comfortable on Wednesday. He was shooting three’s, strong in the paint and stayed calm (which I always appreciate).
*Eyes have been off Green since Cousins has joined the team, just sayin.’*
I’ll continue to say this until he wins an MVP Trophy: Klay Thompson IS the turning point for the Warriors! His vibe changes the momentum of the game; he plays fantastic defense and refuses to stop shooting even when he’s in a drought. After a handful of misses, he tends to make one, two or three three’s that change the game time and time again. Playoff season is near and I’m expecting to see Houston in the WCF. I wouldn’t mind the matchup if the Warriors are as dynamic as they were on Wednesday.
Last little history making stat: The Splash Brothers are the only two in history to have 200 three’s in a season, they both have seven.
Warriors take on the Thunder in OKC on Saturday night and I’m sure KD will show up a little to show the Cupcake squad he doesn’t care what they have to say. Even though he believes these games leading to the playoffs are worthless, who knows if he will take another rest day or not.
